VC - not easy

Monday, July 14th, 2008

I’ve been really into VC (Venture Capital) of late. Looking into how it works, and how it works in todays web 2.0 era. No matter how much I read there seams to be a lot more to read, and a lot more to understand. For example I’m not that much of a economic person, and that is what’s making my head spin most of the time. Cash Flow, Burn Rate, Stocks, and there are a lot more. Separately they might not be that difficult to understand, but somewhere along these different “words” actually coexists and depends on each other. That is what I’m having a hard time to understand.

A lot of the VC stuff out there is also only looking towards how companies are supposed to make their way, but nothing about the people actually doing the work. So I got hold of this article by Guy Kawasaki, and it’s worth a read. It’s really interesting especially if you are not that much of a economist, like me :)

Anyway, I’ll update about this soon, and I’ve some exiting stuff to tell you about why I’m researching this right now.

Cool alternative to illegal download

Monday, May 26th, 2008

As you might have noticed, there has been quite a buzz lately about the downloading from different sites around the net. Especially the bittorrent networks has been targeted.

But now the swedish association of music, it’s close anyway, have come up with a really cool idea. The idea is that you add $10 to your broadband bill, and then you can download as much music as you want. And hey guess what it’s legal! I would do that without thinking twice. It’s a decent price and I can contribute to the artist. Instead of paying $1 a song at iTunes, which is a redicilous price.

For you Swedes reading this, take a look .

Loads todo

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Hey dudes,
Lately I’ve slept about four hours a night, and pretty much been at it the rest of the time, which has been fun, been doing a lot.

Today though I just felt like enough is enough, and took a break. I was supposed to go and meet this beautifull spanish girl, nice legs, nice eyes, and a butt to die for. Ahh, choose to stay home instead, there are more chicks in the sea, but a nice evening at home, watching a movie with cold beer in one hand is not that often that you get to do.

Just got through a Estrella not that bad actully.

Next will be a Staropramen Dark.

I’ll come back in a couple of minutes when I’m through that, and tell you about the taste :)

Facebook just a freak of time?

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

A while ago a friend of mine told me that facebook was only a thing that would pass, but it was during the really big hype of facebook, and I didn’t really believe him.

But now there are loads of indicators showing up that facebook is not doing that well anymore, really what that means I don’t know, it could mean that it’s only not 50.000 new users a day as it was earlier, but it could also mean that the users are looking for another place to go. The stories I’ve read so far don’t really say.

Anyhow, it was interesting that my friend said this already in november.

Looking forward to more updates about this.

Pirate Bay soon in a court near you…

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Most of you probably know about the pending trial against the Pirate Bay here in Sweden. Actually it was just a matter of time before it was headed for the court, but it doesn’t make it less interesting.

The outcome of this trial will decide the future of the net in a way, but it will also change the way of how we think about sharing information over the internet.

Basically the only thing that PB has been doing all these years is to provide a search engine where you can search for illegal stuff. So far it’s never been proven illegal in sweden, but on the other hand it’s never been as many eyes and big corporations backing up the claim of it being illegal.

I’m a really big fan of Pirate Bay and the way they are trying to change the net, and by that against the big corporations. This doesn’t mean that I don’t like watching movies with cool effects that costs a shit load to do and actors that cost even more. It’s not really that that the Pirate Bay is for me, PB is the freedom of sharing, whatever you want to share over the internet. Whether it’s a file or just your thoughts.

Because that is what the PB does, if I’m not totally misinformed, they inform people where to find the illegal stuff, but they have nothing to do with the actual illegal part of downloading and sharing. A thin line maybe, but a verdict against PB would say that there actually is certain stuff that you are not aloud to share over internet. This to me is the bad thing, that some big corporations can decide what I’m aloud to do or not.

So by this I want to raise a thought to Pirate Bay, and I do really hope that the verdict will be for PB and their belief of how the internet is supposed to work.

What’s with that dude anyway?
Is he totally delusional?

The last thing that I’ve read is that he thinks that he isn’t that bad, since he didn’t kill them.

Hmmm, I say just kill him, we don’t need that kind of people in the world, if he was even a bit regrettable of what he has done then I wouldn’t say so, but this is just ridiculous.

Read more about it here.

People as crash test dummies

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

There has been quite a buzz here in sweden about a case where a dad shot two boys in the chest with a shotgun, and one of the boys died. This was done when the boys plus a couple of their friends were got into the “dads” backyard and tried to vandalize. Which they had been done for years to the “dads” family, especially the son, who is a bit retarted (for a lack of other words), therefor quite easy to pick on i guess.

Anyhow, the dad and his family had been, for years, reporting these boys to the police, but no repercussions were made whatsoever since the boys already had heavier charges on them, and therefor weren’t alleged for the “minor” charges the family were putting on them. But since they were minors the earlier charges weren’t getting executed by anyone ether.

As you probably can hear this was a vicious cycle for the family, they kept being harassed by the boys, but nothing helped, didn’t matter who they contacted. So in the end the dad took matters into his own hands. Who wouldn’t?

Anyhow, in the first trial the dad was deemed mildly insane a the moment, and therefore not possible to charge with anything. This meaning that he went free. But now some lawyer wants to charge him again, just to try the actual act in court, to see how much self-defense is allowed to defend yourself and your closest.

So my question is, how can a lawyer talk this way? He is actually using a human being to do this, a person with a family and a life, it might destroy him!

I hope the dad gets freed, the boys had what was coming too them. Then you can start discussing what was the root of the problem, but that has nothing to do with the dad.
