Networking - really cool conference!

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Just came back from the Nova100 student meeting. It was great! Met some great people, and some great companies, like Eriksson, Shibstedt, HP, Accenture, KPMG and more.

Anyway, about a year ago I got introduced to this student networking group, for the best students in Sweden, that today are expanding world wide. Which is really cool! And yesterday was the second event I’ve been too.

Everything was really cool, and professional, and I was really impressed, and am looking forward to going to more of them!

Visiting the wolfs

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Just got this email from Kolmården, which is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) zoo here in Sweden.

Hej!

Roughly what it says is what I’m aloud and not aloud to bring into the wolfs den when I go there next Wednesday!

I’m actually going in to pet the wolfs, how cool isn’t that!
It’s going to be awesome!

Oh, and thanks to my wounderful girlfriend for setting this up!

Give it a try, they just opened for public beta.

reboot10

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

As a part of the work I’ve been doing recently at Twingly, we went to the reboot10 conference in Copenhagen.
This was the 10th consecutive reboot, and they basically focus only on web and philosophies around how to build an even better web. And since we are in the web2.0 era, basically all the talk was about that, and how it’s developing into a huge organism, and that everybody can have their own say.

We have recently had a huge debate in Sweden about a new law that is making it possible for the government to basically search through all our internet activity. As you can guess this should have raised quite a big rawr from the media, but it didn’t instead it was the bloggers that raised their voices. The impact has been imense, today the mailservers at the parliament were down due to being overrun by email oposing the law. Obviously the “big” media has cought up, but it was the blogger community that started it all.

Anyway, reboot. Since this was the first professional conference I’ve ever been too it was a really cool experience on it’s own. All this really well known people within the area that I’m really interested and hoping to be able to work within in the future. All this experience in just one house, I was impressed and there was a lot to learn. Just a small example was how all the people were on their computer all the time, talking and updating the world about what was happening. There was a lot of live bloggers, meaning that they were blogging live as the speaker was talking, others were using Twitter to convey their messages. Mainly it was a huge buzz of information exchange happening all the time

I’ve never seen something like it, and to tell you the truth, I’m totally drawn to it. I met a lot of like minded people, that want to change the world through communication in one way or another, for example this dude, that decided to go around the world for free, or almost anyway, read on on his site.

In general I’m really impressed, and am looking forward to see what this community of very impressive people have to learn me.

Social Media While I Was Gone

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

For you guys that read my blog from the start you know that I went out traveling for about nine month. This was probably the most developing month of my life. But what I have come to realize in the past couple of weeks since I started working at Twingly, is that during the month that I was gone I missed a boom of change on the net. Twitter became a big player, Facebook became huge (though that was hard not to notice since people actually changed facebook instead of email adresses).

I can without feeling that I’m exagerating that the month I was gone a missed a very big change in how people use the internet. I came back from web 1.0 to web 2.0 and all of us know what a difference that is.

However I’m really looking forward to head straight into the battle again and become one of the big players in the market. You’ll see! :)

Time for bed now, need to get up in three hours.

_________

Footnote, this blog might change a bit, but it’s going to stay personal, except that the information might be more focused on web related stuff instead of what beer I like, and how the party last weekend was. Or I might just keep telling you about that too.

Facebook just a freak of time?

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

A while ago a friend of mine told me that facebook was only a thing that would pass, but it was during the really big hype of facebook, and I didn’t really believe him.

But now there are loads of indicators showing up that facebook is not doing that well anymore, really what that means I don’t know, it could mean that it’s only not 50.000 new users a day as it was earlier, but it could also mean that the users are looking for another place to go. The stories I’ve read so far don’t really say.

Anyhow, it was interesting that my friend said this already in november.

Looking forward to more updates about this.
