Marathon no good :(

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

So I haven’t written, and you can probably understand why. I didn’t manage to finish the marathon.

I did 30 k, and the last 10 I was doing even faster than the first, if you count average that is. Everything was feeling really good, but when I reached 26 k it started to heart in my knees, and I started taking it a bit easier. But when I reached about 30 I could barely move any longer, so i decided to stop.

And walk instead, but when I reached the 32 k line I realize that it wasn’t any point. My knees were pretty well buckling, and I was almost crying. I stopped at a Med station to ask for some painkillers but they only had some soft shit, so I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to finish the race. CRAP!

Anyhow, I thought that it was better quitting and actually being able to walk for the rest of my life than screwing my knees up. So stopping it was.

But today my feet are so bad that I can barely walk. I know that I’m wining, but I usually don’t and I’ve never had a injury of this kind. It hearts under my feet, just beneath the outre sides of the foot. And I don’t know what it is. It almost feels like I’m stepping right on bone, and as there isn’t any flesh in between.

Anyhow, I’m going to have a couple of days rest and just work and see what happens.

Hope you all are doing well, the weather here is wicked and I have to stay inside, but every day after work I’m headed out to stay in the sun.

Hope you guys are having a good time too!

Marathon 3 days left

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

So Saturday is the D-day, I’m going to run my first marathon. It’s quite a while since a last spoke about it, but that is mostly because I haven’t really been into it since I thought I wasn’t going to run due to my knees. But that has all changed now, and on Saturday I’m going to run.

So far I’ve done half a marathon, and that is not nearly enough of what I would have needed to run, but hey, I can run on will the last half!

However my goal to do it in less than three and a half hour is kind of thrown out the window. I’ve been traning regularly for the marathon for about three weeks now, so I can’t really look forward to a great time. Just getting around is good enough for me. This time.

I’ll keep you posted, hopefully I’ll manage to write you on sunday or something when I’ve done the race and tell you how I’m feeling and how it went.

Half marathon

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Today me and a friend went for a long run, we ended up doing half a marathon. This is really good, since I’ve signed up for the Stockholm Marathon, and it’s really close now, and I was afraid that my knees weren’t gonna cut it.

Anyhow went really well today, and I’m probably going to manage the whole course the 31st. That’s one more thing on the “needs to be done before I die” list :) Only a couple of hundreds to go.

Need to do some more studying, just wanted to brag.

Starting again

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Hey, I’m still alive.

I’ve actually been thinking about bringing down this blog, not really been that much in the mood to write about anything. During the trip it was fun to write about the stuff I was doing, and about the people I met. But today there just urge to tell people about myself anymore. So I could just bring the thing down.

But, there is always a but, I realized that I’m doing quite a few cool things at the moment, and if I could write down my thoughts and then return to them to see how it all developed later, that would actually be kind of cool.

So I decided to give it a new try, and let’s see what happens.

So from now on I’m going to write about my daily stuff, and hopefully it’s going to be interesting enough to get a bit of a following.

So here is the list of what I’m doing right now, and probably what I’ll be writing the most about in the near future.

  • Starting a company
  • Working at Twingly
  • Studying
  • Building a house
  • Head of the board of INUG Linköping
  • Training
  • Working in a student union pub (Flamman)
  • Meeting new people
  • Reading

I’ll be back, and I’ll hopefully be keeping this up.

That’s enough for today!

Bye Bye Bye Bye

Just another day…

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Today I’ve been studying pretty much all day, got to school about 8 o’clock, and stayed until just past five in the afternoon. Guess what, at the end of the day it started to feel worse, I thought I had everything under control, but no no. :) But I’ll turn it around tomorrow and ace this thing!

Been to the gym today too, and it was so BOOOOOORING that I decided never to go back. Nah not really, I’m going to sell my gymcard but meanwhile I’ll be doing some grouptraining. I just realized that it’s a lot more fun to train in a group. I used to go to the gym, but that was because I needed to get stronger for the Judo, no when I’m training for the Marathon it’s really no point in building muscell, it’s just more to carry around.

They called from the UNI too and asked weather or not I wanted to take the job as a Kalasgeneral again, because they have been having problem finding a new one, I was really flattered that they even thought about it, but I’m not going to head into another year off. I want to finish this thing now and get it over with.

No, I’m trying to wrap my head around a software development course that I’m going to write a test on, on the 15th. Never been to any lectures or read even a slide before,  but I’m not really in the mood to sit on those lectures ether, only heard shit about it. So I’m going to do this! :)

All for now!

Dinner with buddies

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Some friends just left the apartment after a nice evening of spinning and dinner.

José is a spinning instructor so she invited us for a spin, haha, it’s a lot harder than you would think :)
I couldn’t do the same thing as everybody else because my knee was bugging me again, but I kept on doing my thing and actually ended up quite tired to.

After that we headed to the store to get some groceries and made a sweet dinner of home made meatballs, sauce, potatoes and jam.

Am sitting here with a glass of whiskey and just enjoying life.

Think I’m going to get some ice cream too, and then hit the sack.

Hope you guys had a nice day :)

Ended up running instead

Monday, January 7th, 2008

I was about to head for the gym, but decided not to, only had about one hour to get there and do the training, so it felt like a loss of time, so me and Niklas went for a run, tada!, instead.

We found a  sweet fairly steep hill to do some speed training in, and build some stamina. Was great, not been that tired in a while.

Today we are off to do some spinning with José, and that’s going to be a bit of fun, will see how my knees are doing. I’ve heard that it’s supposed to be good for your knees, but I’m skeptical.

Today has been a really productive day, been out for a walk at 7 am, and 8 o’clock in school to study, and then a couple of hours work after lunch, and now blogging and then a couple of hours more of studying.

I’m getting up to speed again, never thought that was going to be possible after the kind of couch potato I became after my trip.

Enough of rambling, back to the books.

Write ya’ll soon.

Heading to the gym

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Got my new gym membership about 2 month ago, only been there 6 times, so it’s about time that I go again, thought I was gonna do it today.

I’m stuffed though, and only got one hour to get there and be done with it. Hmmmm, planing is an issue I got I kind of figured lately. Don’t think I’m bad at it, I just can’t fit everything into one day :)

Anyways, I’ll head there now and see what I can make out of it.

Over and Out

Some redecoration

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Got some studying done today, feels really good to be back actually, and I’m doing good to, so that’s probably a good reason. Lets just hope that it’s enough to pass the test, I can feel that I’m a bit rusty from the time off.

Anyway got back home fairly early today, and tried to get some food from the store, but what I didn’t know is that it is some sort of holiday today, so everything was closed by the time I got to the store. But I was lucky, the fast food store "Saigon" beside the store was open. I grabbed some Thi-food and went home, by the time I was famished and gulped it down in about 3 min. After that with some help from Niklas I redecorated the apartment a bit and got some stuff out of the way. It’s getting really cosy here actually.

After that we Niklas made some really fat pie, that we also did gulp down in no time, so it felt like it was time to go for a run.

I did a short one today, 5 k, since I’ve been out the last two days and done some quite long runs. The feeling when you are done is great! It takes a while, but when you get the feeling that you have to get out and do something you feel really relieved when it’s done and you cant wait until the next time you are out there. Don’t really know how do describe the feeling, but you should give it a try :)

I’ll tell you more about my training later, it’s looking good for the Marathon anyway, and I’m actually looking forward to it, crazy huh.

Anyways, I’ll write a bit more tomorrow about my training plans.
